In an industry wrought with capitalist objective the words altruistic and chef are often not intertwined, Rick Mullins is the exception to the mold. A stalwart in the Kansas City restaurant scene Rick has made a name for himself as an ardent guardian of local food ways embracing the seasons in the gateway to the west creating hyper local cuisine employing fermentation and preservation techniques to encapsulate the terroir of the prairie.
Rick and I share the same beliefs about both the problems we face in this modern food landscape and the solutions to said problems. Since meeting we have shared many inspirational conversations, conversations that have instilled me with the faith that there may be hope for a future based on mutual aid if we can align ourselves with those who share the passion and backbone to march forward speaking truth, challenging those who seek power.
It is with great honor that I welcome Rick to this project as a comrade in publishing. Rick will contribute a unique perspective from his outpost in Kansas City Missouri sharing Thursday Thoughts, Field Reports, and Recipes.
